[ʒak], Christian, französischer Schriftsteller; * Paris 28. 4. 1949, studierte Philosophie, Archäologie und Ägyptologie; Gründer des Institut Ramsès in Paris. Jacq schreibt erzählende Sachbücher und Romane über das alte Ägypten. Nach seinem Durchbruch mit »Champollion l'Égyptien« (1989, dt. »Der lange Weg nach Ägypten«) avancierte der Romanzyklus »Ramsès« (1995-97, dt. »Ramses«, 5 Bde.), über das Leben des Pharaos Ramses II., zum internationalen Bestseller.
